A culinary and oceanic extravaganza unfolded at Nobu in downtown New York City last summer. Crystal’s exclusive Umi Uma media preview tasting with Chef Nobuyuki (known simply to the world as Nobu) Matsuhisa brought together the world-renowned culinary artistry of Nobu and the gastronomic excellence of Crystal at an event destined to remain in the memories of all who attended.

The fact that Umi Uma has returned to both of our ships, Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity, is unsurprising. Chef Nobu has partnered with us for more than 20 years, and as part of our unparalleled commitment to excellence at sea, it seemed only natural to offer a media preview of the calibre of food that guests can expect back on board. Top travel and F&B influencers mingled with media from leading publications including Travel + Leisure, Forbes, Robb Report, and People Magazine, along with key members of the Crystal team. The result was a dining event that gave a new meaning to tasteful travel.

Everything was perfect. The food was, of course, exceptional. Nobu was his usual personable self, taking selfies and chatting with guests in between creating his extraordinary signature dishes. Guests were treated to a symphony of flavors, including Nobu’s legendary miso-marinated black cod and fresh sushi and sashimi. Traditional Japanese techniques harmonized with Peruvian ingredients, resulting in dishes nothing short of masterpieces. Each bite was a revelation, transporting guests to far-off lands and leaving them yearning for more – the perfect gastronomic complement to our exceptional itineraries.
